Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Cook until browned; drain excess fat.
  • In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture.
  • Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and the top is golden.
  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
